Ambassador of Kazakhstan in the Netherlands Askar Zhumagaliyev met with the Praeses of the General Synod of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands Marco Batenburg.

The meeting took place in the Cathedral of St. John (Sint Janskerk), which is the longest in the Netherlands (its length is 123 meters), which is also famous for its stained glass windows of the 14th-16th centuries.

During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat informed M. Batenburg about the activities of Kazakhstan in promoting interfaith harmony and intercivilizational dialogue, as well as about the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on September 14-15, 2022 in Nur-Sultan.

“The Congress is a universal global interreligious dialogue platform that provides a constructive dialogue on the most pressing issues of our time,” the Ambassador noted.

According to M. Batenburg, the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions provides a unique opportunity to maintain interfaith dialogue, to unite people of different faiths around the same table.

The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions has been held in Kazakhstan since 2003. It is expected that more than 130 delegations from 58 states, including the Supreme Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, Pope Francis and other religious figures will take part in the work of the VII Congress.
