The introduction of a certification and inspection system for potato seeds in Kazakhstan was discussed in the Netherlands

The Hague - The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of the Netherlands together with KazakhInvest held a meeting with the General Inspection Service of Agricultural Seeds and Seed Potatoes (NAK) and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association of Potato and Vegetable Growers of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Biology and Biodiversity and the Kazakh Research Institute of Horticulture.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the introduction of a certification system and inspection of potato seeds in Kazakhstan based on the experience of the Netherlands.

It should be noted that the Netherlands has a unique system for tracking the quality of seeds and seed potatoes. Inspections have been in existence for eighty years. On behalf of the supervision of the government, they monitor compliance with the rules in the industry.

The representative of NAK, Mr. Ad Tussant, noted its readiness to support Kazakhstan in the implementation of a system of certification and inspection of potato seeds in Kazakhstan. With a stable epidemiological situation in the countries, starting this year, NAK will assist in training our specialists in the Netherlands, as well as in organizing a visit of Dutch specialists to Kazakhstan.

In addition, the Dutch side invited Kazakhstani side to take part in the international PotatoEurope event dedicated exclusively to the development of potato growing. The event will take place on September 1-2 this year in the province of Flevoland, Netherlands. More information about the event can be found on the website https://potatoeurope.nl/

For reference: NAK conducts inspections, evaluates and issues certificates for agricultural seeds, including cereals and fodder. However the main product of this service is the seed potatoes. NAK monitors products at all stages of their growth. The blue NAK label on a bag is a worldwide guarantee of reliability.
