Kazakhstan to revamp all transit corridors by 2030

At the recent International Transport and Logistics Forum in Almaty under the theme “New Silk Way”, Kazakhstan announced its goal to revamp all transit corridors by 2030 and, together with neighbouring countries, to better connect Asia to Europe.

We welcome the participation of the delegation of International Road Transport Union in the forum, which reiterated that existing systems, such as TIR, can tackle current challenges and build up supply chain resilience.

Ahead of the event, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan in Geneva Yerlan Alimbayev held talks with IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto and discussed Kazakhstan’s growing role in goods transport and the digitalization of trade and TIR.

“Kazakhstan’s role in inter-regional transport and trade is pivotal, connecting Asia to Europe,” said de Pretto.

Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan in Geneva will continue to facilitate the cooperation with IRU to explore solutions to trade and transport disruptions.
