About the visit of the Consul General to «Heidelberg Cement AG»

On August 26 the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Frankfurt am Main Mr. Yermukhambet Konuspayev met with the Member of the Board of Heidelberg Cement AG Mr. Ernest Jelito and Regional Director for finance and planning of Heidelberg Cement AG Mr. Christian Mikli.

During the meeting the Consul General was informed by Mr. Ernest Jelito about the company «Heidelberg Cement AG» that since 2005 has been carrying out successful investment activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of production of construction materials. Within 15 years the company has invested more than 650 million US dollars in the Kazakhstan’s economy. In particular, the company has purchased and modernized cement plants in the East Kazakhstan province and the city of Shymkent, built a new ultramodern cement plant in Mangistau province, as well as created a network of cement terminals throughout the country. Currently, the company produces 3.6 million tons of high-quality cement per year.

It was also noted that within the framework of its activities in Kazakhstan the company pays special attention to the issues of sustainable development of the regions where its production facilities are located. This is primarily about promoting economic development, increasing social welfare and ensuring environmental protection. An important place in this work is given to the professional training of local personnel to work in high-tech industries, where the dual education system is successfully applied.
