Dear compatriots and tourists,
The epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan is under control of the Government. Necessary measures are timely taken to combat the epidemic of coronavirus.
Recently, some foreign media ranked Kazakhstan among the countries with the fastest rate of the spread of COVID-19. In addition, the publications mistakenly suggested that Kazakhstan is introducing a second «strict lockdown».
In this regard, the Embassy considers it necessary to report the following.
Strict quarantine measures were introduced in Kazakhstan for 2 weeks – from 5th until 19th of July.
The increase in the number and growth rate of infection in Kazakhstan is explained by the fact that since the beginning of July, asymptomatic forms of COVID-19 have been added to the total number of infected. Prior to this, separate recording was carried out.
From now on, the sanitary authorities take into account that both forms of infection - with and without symptoms - pose a potential danger to others.
As of July 7, 2020, 48 874 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Kazakhstan, including 25 021 with symptoms, 23 553 asymptomatic, with 1 403 new cases per day. The daily increase is 3%.
24 990 people recovered, that is, more than half (51.1%). 23 324 people continue treatment. 260 people have died.
In June, the rate of the spread of the virus in Kazakhstan was 1.3. Over the last few weeks, this decreased to 1.05.
According to the COVID-19 map of the Johns Hopkins University, Kazakhstan ranks 35th globally by confirmed cases.
Kazakhstan is continuously conducting a mass testing programme.
As of July 7, 2020, 1,631,817 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted (8,746 per 100,000 people), with the following results: 48,874 tested positive, 1,582,943 tested negative.
According to worldometers.info, today Kazakhstan ranks 19th in the world in terms of population testing, 54th in terms of the number of positive cases per 1 million people and 113th in terms of mortality.
These international statistics therefore demonstrate the continued moderate dynamics of the epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan.
Quarantine measures in Kazakhstan will last between 5-19 July.
The restrictions include a ban on holding mass gatherings, as well as family events and memorials. Beauty salons, hairdressers, gyms, fitness centers, pools, indoor markets, beaches, water parks, culture facilities, entertainment centers, religious facilities, cinemas, kindergartens, children health camps and other institutions will suspend their activities during this period.
At least 80% of employees of public institutions, offices, national companies and other organizations will continue working remotely.
The movement of people will be limited to groups of three or less. Medical centers, pharmacies, grocery stores, and open markets will continue operating during this period.
Open air restaurants, construction and industrial plants with a continuous production cycle, open air agricultural and construction works will continue to operate under enhanced sanitary and disinfection measures.
The auto service and appliance maintenance will also continue to operate.
International air traffic will continue without further expansion of the list of countries. At the same time, domestic air flights and trains will be limited. The interregional bus services and city buses are suspended for the period of the quarantine.
