Kazakhstan and Qatar intend to increase bilateral cooperation between universities

Doha, September 6, 2023 – On September 3-5, 2023, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Akatov visited Qatar.

During the meeting with Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, both sides noted the importance of training specialists for various sectors of the economy in accordance with the strategic priorities and goals of the two countries. The meeting also discussed the ways to further strengthen the cooperation between universities of both countries.

K.Akatov held negotiations with Qatar University and Hamad bin Khalifa University, during which the sides reviewed the opportunities of student exchange and academic mobility, and exchange of experience in opening branches of foreign universities.

At the same time, in accordance with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address “Economic Course of a Just Kazakhstan”, the Qatari side was informed about Kazakh Government’s goals to improve the quality of higher education, creating conditions for citizens to realize their full potential, as well as personnel training in the field of artificial intelligence, developing technical and operational specialists.

As a result of the visit, an agreement was reached on strengthening the partnerships with universities and the formation of mechanisms for conducting research in promising areas of science.
