The tourist potential of Almaty was presented in Doha

The Department of Tourism of Almaty city organized a roadshow in order to establish business connections between tour operators of Kazakhstan and Qatar. The prospects of mutual cooperation were discussed in a B2B format on July 24, 2023.

It needs to be mentioned that the tourist flow from Arab countries to Almaty is increasing for the second consecutive year. Thus, since the beginning of the year, the number of tourists from Qatar has grown by more than 4.6 times. Most of the visitors are Qatar’s investors. A good example of foreigners’ high interest is when Qatar's largest retail distribution company sent 45 top managers and their families to Almaty for leisure as a reward for their work in November 2022.

According to experts, this became possible due to measures taken to open borders, resume air travel, and promote Almaty in the international markets with help of the events organized by Akimat of Almaty city in collaboration with tour operators. These events included participation in the tourism exhibition Dubai ATM-2022, roadshows in major cities of Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

According to the Department of Tourism of Almaty city, more than 50 tour operators of Qatar consider Almaty as a comfortable city for leisure and business.

"We intend to continue working on promoting our city in the Middle East, including Qatar. Thanks to the measures taken, interest in Almaty as a tourist destination is growing, and we will continue this work. Increasing the flow of tourists from Middle Eastern countries is one of our goals for this year," stated the Department of Tourism of Almaty city.

Additionally, at the end of 2021, a new flight route between Almaty and Doha was launched, with a frequency of seven flights per week.
