Kazakh schoolchildren won three nominations at once at the FIRST World Championship, held in the American city of Houston.
The Adeptus Mechanicus team from Almaty received a special award “Core Values Award” for high enthusiasm, spirit of cooperation and mutual respect in the youngest age category from 6 to 10 years. It consisted of primary school students. Their project has become one of the best among all the presented innovative projects and technical developments.
The Play 4 Energy team from the LEAS school won the high technical award “Robot Design Award” in the middle age category from 10 to 16 years. They demonstrated excellent programming and engineering skills, creating a high-strength and efficient robot with the ability to perform complex tasks.
The high judicial award “Motivate Award Finalist” in the senior age category from 12 to 18 years was awarded to the AENTA team from the Physics-Mathematics State School of Almaty. In addition to creating and entertaining robot games, the guys actively promote STEM culture and implement the principles of FIRST in their school. As the members of the international jury noted, the team showed high professionalism on the world stage. It should be noted that schoolchildren hold free festivals and trainings, where they teach their peers the basics of robotics and programming.
"The guys showed excellent results and adequately represented our country. We are grateful to everyone who is involved in the victory of our students! This is the beginning of a long and fruitful path in the development of STEM in Kazakhstan," said Nurdaulet Dosmagambet, co—founder of the USTEM Robotics Public Foundation.
Recall that the national team was formed at the Central Asian Games FIRST Central Asia, held with the support of the Ministry of Education in February this year.
"It was a difficult race among participants from 110 countries. We are proud that our children have shown the highest professionalism and received their well-deserved awards. We believe that their vivid example will become a motivation for all schoolchildren of the country," said Aigul Karakulova, head of the Laboratory of pedagogical excellence of the RNPC "Daryn".
In total, 36 thousand children took part in the world robotics championship. About 50 Kazakhstani schoolchildren defended the honor of the country.
