Kazakhstan and Qatar expand investment cooperation

During the period from 1 to 4 February, the Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A. Aydarov paid a working visit to the State of Qatar. The delegation included Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development A. Yerzhanov, representatives of the «Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund», NC «Kazakh Invest», Astana International Financial Center, «Astana Football Club» and number of private companies of Kazakhstan.

During the visit, the members of the delegation held negotiations with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Industry and Trade, Municipality and Environmental Protection, the Chairman of the Central Bank and Heads of key Qatari banks, as well as the first Heads of National Companies «Qatar Investment Authority», «Qatar Sports Investments», «Qatar Mining», «Qatar Diar», «Hassad Food», «Widam», «Katara Hospitality», as well as major Qatari investors.

As part of the meetings, the Qatari side was presented with specific investment projects in the defense and mining and metallurgical industries, agriculture, the banking sector, tourism and sports, as well as substantively discussed the priority areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar.

The visit was organized in preparation for the planned state visit of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Nur-Sultan for this year, during which it is planned to sign important bilateral documents aimed at further strengthening the partnership between two countries.
