Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar in the field of education and science has great potential

January 18 of this year Ambassador A. Isagaliyev met with the President of one of the leading higher educational institutions of Qatar - Hamad bin Khalifa University, Dr. Ahmad Hasna.

During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat noted the significant potential for establishing full-scale cooperation in the field of education and science between the universities of the two countries. This is confirmed by the fruitful interaction of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa University with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University over the past years. In 2019, the Qatar University, together with the Astana International Financial Center, contributed to the creation of the Scientific and Educational Center for Islamic Finance on the basis of KazNU, which became one of the first in our country and the Central Asian region as a whole to train specialists in the field of Islamic finance. In 2020, KazNU was awarded the prestigious international award "Global Islamic Finance Awards 2020" (GIFA) in recognition of the achievements and contribution to the development of education in the field of Islamic finance. Taking into account this positive practice, the Ambassador expressed the interest of the Kazakh side in the creation of similar centers in other universities of our country.

In addition, the Ambassador submitted to the Qatari side a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between Nazarbayev University and Hamad bin Khalifa University, which is planned to be signed in the near future.

During the meeting, they also discussed the possibilities of providing educational and scientific grants, exchanging students and teachers, implementing joint scientific projects.

At the end, the Anthology of Kazakh modern literature and collection of works by Abay, published in Arabic, were presented to the head of the Qatari university, and an agreement was reached to hold a scientific seminar at the university dedicated to the heritage of Al-Farabi.
