June 17, 2020 marks 65 years, since the visit of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, to Kazakhstan. It was during the visit of the Head of the Indian government to Almaty in 1955 that the first official high-level relations were established between Kazakhstan and India. Jawaharlal Nehru, accompanied by his daughter Indira Gandhi held several meetings with the Kazakh intelligentsia, including with the President of the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences Kanysh Satpayev. During a conversation with a famous Kazakh writer, Mukhtar Auezov, the sides noted the similarities of culture and history of the peoples of the two countries. After a trip to India in 1955, the outstanding Kazakh writer wrote the first work about this country in Kazakh - “Indian Meetings”, which was published in 1958 and subsequently reprinted multiple times.
