Kazakhstan – A New Tourist Destination for Hungary: Discussing Cooperation Prospects

Budapest, March 4, 2025 – A meeting took place at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Hungary between Ambassador Abzal Saparbekuly and the President of the Hungarian Association of Travel Agencies (MUISZ) Judit Molnár.

The discussion focused on promoting Kazakhstan as a tourist destination in the Hungarian market, expanding direct air connections—including cooperation with airlines such as Wizz Air—and attracting Hungarian companies to invest in Kazakhstan’s tourism sector.

Special interest was given to the development of areas such as ecotourism, ethnocultural tourism, business (MICE) tourism, and others.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the discussion of Digital Nomad Visa opportunities, which allow foreign citizens working remotely to reside in Kazakhstan for up to one year. This initiative opens new prospects for attracting international professionals and developing business tourism.

The meeting also covered Kazakhstan’s latest achievements in the tourism sector: in 2024, the country welcomed over 9.2 million tourists, Kazakhstan was ranked among the Top 10 Best Travel Destinations by Lonely Planet, and the city of Almaty was included in the list of 52 Best Travel Destinations by The New York Times.

As a result of the meeting, both parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector, agreed to continue negotiations, and explore the possibility of organizing joint events and business meetings with representatives of the tourism industries of both countries. Additionally, an agreement was reached on a visit to Kazakhstan by interested Hungarian tourism companies to explore cooperation potential and establish further interactions with Kazakhstani partners.
