Dear friends!
Today, April 2, 2022, marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Hungary.
In 1992, Hungary became one of the first ten states to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan. In 1993, diplomatic missions of both states were opened in the capitals of the two countries, while the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Budapest became the first foreign diplomatic representation of independent Kazakhstan in Central and Eastern Europe.
During this short period by historical standards, the two states have done a lot to strengthen and expand multifaceted cooperation, have created effective institutions of interaction.
A solid foundation of the bilateral legal framework has been formed, the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Combating Organized Crime, Terrorism, Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Inter-parliamentary friendship groups, Strategic and Business Councils have been established, and direct non-stop flights between the capitals of the two countries have also been launched.
To date, there are no political or other disagreements between the two countries, a regular political dialogue has been established, positions on most international policy issues coincide, which creates favorable conditions for the further development of bilateral cooperation.
Kazakhstan and Hungary are striving to build up and deepen trade, economic and investment ties. Efforts are aimed at expanding the commodity structure of mutual trade and increasing the share of highly processed products. Priority attention is paid to cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, transport and logistics, information technology, tourism and healthcare.
The prospects for the development of cultural and humanitarian relations are getting wider every year. The historical foundation and a powerful link of the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh and Hungarian peoples is the presence of descendants of the Kipchak tribes who relocated to Hungary from the Kazakh steppes in the XIII century. Currently, the role of the «Union of Hungarian Kipchaks» is invaluable in the development of cultural relations between the two countries.
The field of education is an important element of cooperation between the two states. The number of students studying at universities in the two countries is growing. To date, more than one thousand students from Kazakhstan are studying at universities in Hungary. Hungarian students study Kazakh language, and Hungarian professors teach at Kazakh universities.
Kazakhstan and Hungary express confidence that the strategic partnership will continue to strengthen for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, in the interests of peace, security and stability.
