About National Contact Point in Kazakhstan

In 2020 Kazakhstan established the NCP as part of the promotion of the OECD Guidelines. The objectives of its activities are to raise awareness of the Guiding Principles, to consider appeals of individuals and legal entities on violations of the provisions of these principles and to take a decision on them.

The aforementioned principles are authoritative international criteria for corporate conduct, which complement the legislative framework of the acceding state and, importantly, represent guarantees that enterprises respect investor rights and interests.

The Guiding Principles are a unique document adopted by OECD member countries and accession states, with recommendations to global businesses that define international standards for responsible business conduct. They pave the way for dialogue between business and stakeholders on issues related to behavior in many areas of business ethics. The recommendations cover a wide range of issues, including compliance with local laws and competition rules, consumer protection, tax compliance and more.

The Guidelines are also part of the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises (1976), designed to provide an open and transparent environment for international investment among participants. The OECD member countries, which are the source of the largest amount of external investment in the world and are home to the largest multinational enterprises, have pledged to promote the implementation of the Guidelines by businesses operating in or from their territory. As a result, these Principles cover a significant number of companies, extending beyond the territorial boundaries of the accession states.
