Brussels, September 19, 2023 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium co-organized the exhibition “Bridging Horizons – A Cultural Odyssey from Central Asia and Mongolia to the European Union”, which is taking place this week in Brussels.
With the support of the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for cooperation with Central Asia and Mongolia, Tomáš Zdechovský unique elements of the traditional life and culture of the peoples of Central Asia and Mongolia, as well as modern painting and images of natural beauty, were presented in the main building of the European Parliament.
At the request of the organizers, the Embassy of Kazakhstan also presented ancient European maps depicting the Kazakh Khanate and other nations of Central Asia to the guests of the exhibition.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Margulan Baimukhan noted that such a major cultural event in the European Parliament confirms the importance of promoting the exclusive tourism brand “Central Asia”, the idea of which was proposed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Komart Tokayev during the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in September 2023 in Tajikistan.
On his part, Mr. Zdechovský stated that through this exhibition he intends to show the representatives and visitors of the European Parliament the elegance of Central Asian civilization, as well as the rich culture, art and unique nature of Central Asia and Mongolia.
The event was attended by numerous members and staffers of the European Parliament, including the Vice-Chair of the Sub-committee on Human Rights Christian Sagartz, as well as members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Karsten Lucke, Francisco José Millán Mon, Thierry Mariani and others.
