Medal of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Honors Long-term Work of Ex-Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Belgium John Stoop 

Antwerp, 16 January  2023 – At a meeting with prominent Belgian lawyer, former Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Antwerp John Stoop, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Margulan Baymukhan expressed sincere gratitude for his many years of work for the strengthening of Kazakh-Belgian relations and presented him with the medal «30 years of diplomatic service of the Republic of Kazakhstan».

Mr. Stoop also received a letter of gratitude from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mr. Adil Tursunov.

Ambassador noted the numerous contributions of Mr. Stoop as Honorary Consul to the strengthening of friendly relations between our countries. In this regard, he stressed the importance of the institute of honorary consuls, which is an effective tool for promoting bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

For more than two decades (from 1996 to 2018), Mr. Stoop represented the interests of Kazakhstan in the Belgian region of Flanders, which includes 10 provinces of Belgium, and from 2018 to 2021 in the province of Antwerp. A highly qualified lawyer, he is currently the Honorary President of the Flemish Mediation and Arbitration Organization.
