Belgian farmers are ready to establish long-term cooperation with Kazakhstan

East Flanders, Belgium, March 17, 2022 - Ambassador M. Baimukhan visited the northern province of Belgium – East Flanders, where he met with the owners of one of the large Belgian farms specializing in cattle breeding of the Belgian White Blue (BWB), and the management of the company «EcoDynamics». The meeting was also attended by the Mayor of Oudenaarde and his deputy.

During the meeting with Mayor Marnick De Meulemeester, the Kazakh diplomat presented the main provisions of the Message of the President of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev dated March 16, 2022, «New Kazakhstan: the path of renewal and modernization», including measures of state support for the agro-industrial complex.

During negotiations with the business, the Belgian company «EcoDynamics» in cooperation with the Belgian farm «Blockeel», representing the third generation of the family business, are ready to supply embryos of the Belgian White Blue breed to Kazakhstan on a long-term basis. This breed was bred in Belgium in 1956 and is considered the champion breed for the production of premium meat in the world. One bull of the blue-white breed reaches a weight of 642 kg. at the age of 13 months.

According to Luc Van Hyfte, CEO of «EcoDynamics», the advantages of the Belgian cattle breed are good meat productivity, low fat content (± 5%), high content of polyunsaturated fats, low cholesterol (± 45 mg/100 g of meat), low feed intake, dynamics of meat addition (on average 1 kg per day day).

Belgian businessmen, along with exporting fresh embryos of breeding cattle to Kazakhstan, are ready to provide technological training for Kazakh farmers and veterinarians, management and monitoring of farms. In May 2022, the Belgian delegation of farmers plans to make a business mission to Kazakhstan to establish cooperation with Kazakh farms.

For his part, discussing the current situation of the development of the agro-industrial complex in Kazakhstan, M.Baimukhan spoke about the National Project for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021-2025, subsidies and tax benefits in the field of agriculture.

The parties agreed to exchange information on the implementation of projects in the field of agriculture, and the Embassy will also assist in organizing a visit and meetings of Belgian businessmen with Kazakh veterinary services and livestock breeders of the Republic of Kazakhstan in May 2022.
