Kazakhstan and Brazil Strengthen Political Dialogue and Interregional Cooperation

Rio de Janeiro, April 29, 2025 — On the sidelines of the meeting of the BRICS Council of Foreign Ministers, Akan Rakhmetullin, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Akan Rakhmetullin expressed gratitude to the Brazilian side for the high-quality organization of the event and the warm welcome within the framework of Brazil's chairmanship in the Association, and also wished success in holding the BRICS Summit and the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in July and November of this year in Rio de Janeiro and Belem, respectively.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, global and regional policy, as well as cooperation in the multilateral arena, including mutual support for initiatives and candidacies in international organizations.

The Kazakh side supported the initiative to create a dialogue format "Central Asia - Brazil", which could give a new impetus to both bilateral relations and interregional cooperation. During the conversation, it was noted that the Central Asian region has enormous economic and resource potential, which can be used by Brazilian companies to expand their presence in the region.

The parties emphasized the importance of intensifying bilateral political dialogue and economic partnership, including organizing mutual visits at the high and highest levels, developing parliamentary diplomacy, as well as increasing trade and investment cooperation with the support of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Business Council.

Particular attention was paid to the accelerated development and coordination of a number of bilateral documents. The parties also welcomed the expansion of the institution of Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan in Brazil.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of the delegations expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of Kazakh-Brazilian relations and confirmed their desire to maintain a regular and constructive dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
