Brasilia, February 24, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Bolat Nussupov visited the Pernambuco State Mission to the Federal Government of Brazil and met with its head, Secretary Eric Lisboa.
The agenda of the meeting included issues of expanding regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Brazilian state in the fields of economy, trade, culture and education. The Ambassador shared the results of his visit to the state capital of Recife on December 5, 2023, in particular meetings with the state leadership, economic associations and business circles of the region.
One of the agreements on this trip was the possibility of expanding cooperation in the field of sugar cane supplies to Kazakhstan and establishing production for its processing using Brazilian raw materials and technologies. In this regard, the Ambassador welcomed the readiness of a number of local companies to establish cooperation in this area and invited the state's business community to take part in the fourth meeting of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Business Council scheduled for this year in the city of Konayev. The parties also discussed the possibility of opening an Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in the Brazilian state in the future.
Given the federal structure of Brazil, regional cooperation is an important element in strengthening bilateral relations. Currently, partnerships between the regions of Kazakhstan and Brazil have been established between the Karaganda region and the state of Bahia (2021), the Almaty region and the state of Rio Grande do Sul (2024). At this stage, the possibility of establishing a regional partnership is also being considered between the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina and one of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
