Third Meeting of the Kazakhstan-Chile Friendship Society

Santiago, July 23, 2024 - During his visit to the Chilean capital, Bolat Nussupov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Chile (with residence in Brasilia), participated in the Third Meeting of the Kazakhstan-Chile Friendship Society, organized at the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, socio-political and academic circles of the country, as well as activists of the Chilean fan club of Dimash Kudaibergen. After the meeting, a photo exhibition “From Altai to the Caspian Sea: natural riches of Kazakhstan” was inaugurated.

In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador acquainted the participants with the current development of Kazakhstan and the priorities of the domestic and foreign policy of our state. He particularly emphasized the reforms carried out by the country's leaders, as well as the important international events taking place this year in the capital of Kazakhstan. The Ambassador also outlined the main directions of bilateral cooperation, noting the practical value and timeliness of the creation of the interparliamentary friendship group “Kazakhstan-Chile” in the Chilean Senate and the Kazakhstan-Chile Business Council in the mining sector.

As a tradition, the meeting of the Friendship Society was dedicated to the legacy of famous and historical personalities of Kazakhstan. In this context, the presentation of the contribution and exploits of outstanding poets of our country Saken Seifullin, Ilyas Zhansugurov and Beimbet Mailin was held under the title «Three Baiterek of the Great Steppe» on the occasion of their 130th anniversary this year. The participants of the meeting presented their poems in Kazakh and Spanish.

The Kazakhstan-Chile friendship society was created in 2022 to popularize and promote cultural, humanitarian, scientific, technical and academic cooperation between the two countries. Conferences, exhibitions and concerts are the main activities of the society. The two previous meetings were held online. The first one, in 2022, was dedicated to the life of the world-famous Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov. At the second meeting poems of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbay were presented with his musical interpretation.
