The year 2023 was full of events of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the countries of South America

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay on May 24 in the legislative assembly of the Brazilian capital held a photo exhibition on the theme "Kazakhstan in South America: 30 years of friendship and mutual understanding".

The year began with the traditional meeting of the Ambassadors of Kazakhstan and nine South American countries at the Kazakh Embassy, as well as an online conference of Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan in the region.

On June 23 at the Embassy of Argentina and on July 27 at the Embassy of Uruguay, official ceremonies were held to exchange notes on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Argentina and Uruguay. Perhaps the main event of the year was the holding of regular political consultations with Argentina and Chile within the framework of visits of the First Deputy Foreign Minister K. Umarov to Buenos Aires and Santiago in August this year.

For the first time in the history of Kazakh-Argentine relations, the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan was opened in Buenos Aires. An important achievement in the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Argentina was the visit of the Chairman of the Supreme Court A. Mergaliev to Buenos Aires on October 25-30 to participate in the international conference of the International Association for Court Administration (IACA), during which the Head of the Judicial Administration of Kazakhstan N. Akhmetzakirov was elected Vice-President of IACA.

One of the important events in the field of investment cooperation with Chile was the meeting of the Chairman of the Board of the concern of the Chilean company "ME Elecmetal" E. Arteaga with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of RK A. Aidarov on June 8 in Astana and the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RK and the company "ME Elecmetal" on the basic principles for the implementation of the investment project for the construction of a plant for the production of grinding bodies.

In addition, on November 28, 2023 with Chile the second meeting of the Friendship Society was held on the theme "Chilean view on modern Kazakh poetry" with the participation of diplomats and experts of the two countries.

Cooperation with Peru also developed dynamically and successfully, as a result of which such Peruvian companies as "Inkas Berries" and "Resemin" in November showed practical interest in entering the Kazakh market. Currently, active work is underway to conclude an agreement with Peru and Uruguay on visa-free regime.

During the year in Buenos Aires and Bogota were awarded Honorary Consuls G. Gutierrez (Rosario, Argentina) and O. Valdes (Bogota, Colombia) jubilee medal "30 years of Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan" for their contribution to the expansion of cooperation between Kazakhstan, Argentina and Colombia.

On December 10, at the invitation of the Argentine side, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan took part in the official inauguration ceremony of the elected President of Argentina J. Miley.

All these and other activities were made possible thanks to the close cooperation and support of our friends in South America. We take this opportunity to thank our friends and look forward to continuing our cooperation next year.
