South America is getting acquainted with modern literature of Kazakhstan

The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Brazil, which is the only diplomatic representation in the whole South America, has provided Kazakhstani books "Anthology of Modern Kazakh Prose" and "Anthology of Modern Kazakh Poetry" in Spanish to the diplomatic missions of Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador to Brazil for the subsequent transfer to national libraries, universities and scientific centers of these countries.

The books contain selected poems, tales and stories of 60 modern Kazakhstani authors, which are unique scientific material on the culture, literature and history of Kazakhstan.

These collections of Kazakh literature were published in the six official languages of the United Nations as part of the project “Contemporary Kazakhstan culture in the global world”, one of the important directions of the “Rukhani Zhagyru” program, initiated by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbassy Nursultan Nazarbayev, whose tasks are to familiarize the world with Kazakh culture, the achievements of our country in literature, music, art, theater and cinema.

Literary translation of two anthologies with a total of 1600 pages was carried out by the Spanish publishing house Visor-Libros with the support of Kazakhstani translators of the public fund "National Translation Bureau", commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The strategic partner and creative consultant of the project was the Cervantes Institute under the Ministry of Culture of Spain, at the headquarters of which on September 27, 2019 these books were presented.

Distribution of books by Kazakhstani authors in South America will increase local interest in spiritual wealth and history of the Kazakh people, as well as strengthen intercultural dialogue.
