Brasilia, September 21, 2023 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Bolat Nussupov, as an honored guest, took part in the event – Act for Peace, organized by the Federal Senate of Brazil as part of the celebration of the International Day of Peace.
The organizer of the event, the Ambassador of Peace of Brazil, Maria Paula Fidalgo, welcomed guests to «Peace Conversations» dedicated to the lives, professions and efforts of people of different professions for the sake of peace on the planet. Speakers from Brazilian politicians and experts presented their vision of ways to create interreligious harmony and cultural dialogue in the world.
President of the Planetary Union of Brazil and Honorary President of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum, ex-senator Ulisses Riedel briefed those present on the results of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions held on September 14–15, 2022 in Astana.
The Brazilian politician noted that today in Kazakhstan, under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a policy is being implemented to ensure interethnic and interfaith harmony in the country. Therefore, for the world community, holding the Congress is a clear signal of how to build peace and harmony in society. The Kazakhstani model of interfaith and interethnic harmony is a vivid example of religious tolerance, unity and friendship, he added.
According to Ulisses Riedel, unfortunately, today in the world there is an increase in xenophobia, Islamophobia, chauvinism and anti-Semitism. This is a serious obstacle to international stability and security. In this context, he drew attention to the value of the article by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev «Religious leaders can contribute to the establishment of peace in the world», where the Kazakh leader calls for promoting global dialogue between religions and peoples, including through the work of the Congress of Religious Leaders, promoting the most mutual understanding and respect in society.
