Cooperation with the Brazilian Parliament is being strengthened

Brasilia, April 18, 2023 – at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil, Ambassador Bolat Nussupov met with Senator of the National Congress of Brazil, head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group «Brazil-Kazakhstan» of the upper house of Parliament Chico Rodriguez.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the extensive agenda of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil and agreed to make efforts to further expand the political dialogue between the two states and realize the full potential of trade, economic and investment cooperation. These intentions are especially relevant this year as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan Bolat Nussupov, having familiarized the interlocutor with the results of the elections to the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 14 this year, the early elections of deputies of the lower house of parliament (Majilis) and local self-government bodies (maslikhats) dated March 19 this year, stressed that the elections became a landmark event for Kazakhstan and the final stage of a comprehensive reboot of key state institutions. It was also noted that the political transformations carried out in recent years and the targeted liberalization of the electoral legislation have given a powerful impetus to the party building of Kazakhstan.

A separate aspect of the talks was the holding of the second joint meeting of the friendship groups of the upper houses of the parliaments of the two countries this year in a renewed composition.

For reference: The first meeting of the Kazakhstan–Brazil friendship groups of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil was held on September 13, 2021 via video conference. From the Kazakh side, the event was headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, the head of the Kazakhstan–Brazil Friendship Group, Senator Dauren Adilbekov. From the Brazilian side – Chairman of the Friendship Group «Kazakhstan-Brazil» Senator of the National Congress of Brazil Chico Rodriguez.
