The Friendship Society «Kazakhstan – Brazil» was created

Brasilia, July 5, 2022 – the Constituent Assembly of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum, a public association for cooperation in the field of culture, education and humanitarian issues, was held at the Embassy of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the Board of the Society was approved, and the composition of the leadership and the Board of Trustees was elected. Ex-Senator of the National Congress of Brazil Ulisses Riedel was elected President of the Friendship Forum «Kazakhstan-Brazil», Vice-President – Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry «Kazakhstan-Brazil» Cassiano Pereira Viano, Executive Director – a well-known Brazilian scientist, linguist Professor Edelcio Américo. The Board of Trustees included the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Bolat Nussupov, the Ambassador of Brazil to Kazakhstan Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa, the Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan in the city of Rio de Janeiro Aloysio Maria Teixeira Filho and in the state of Santa Catarina Altamir Osni Teixeira, as well as representatives of socio-political, cultural and media circles of Brazil.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, Bolat Nussupov, speaking about the achievements of the Kazakh-Brazilian trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, noted that now the Embassy has received solid support in the form of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Friendship Forum, which will allow the Brazilian audience to get acquainted with the history, traditions and culture of Kazakhstan, and will also give a new impetus not only to cultural and humanitarian exchange, but also to the entire spectrum of bilateral relations. The society will also contribute to greater recognition of Brazil in Kazakhstan through the implementation of joint projects.

In turn, the President of the Forum, Ulisses Riedel, highly appreciating the potential of the established Friendship Society, stressed that this would provide a great opportunity to popularize Kazakhstan in the South American region and develop cultural, humanitarian and educational ties. President Ulisses Riedel also noted that he is very pleased to be a regular participant in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Nur-Sultan and is glad to visit Kazakhstan again on September 14-15 this year.

The Executive Director of the Forum – Brazilian linguist Professor Edelcio Américo congratulated the audience on the creation of a friendship society and emphasized in its activities the priority of popularizing the history, culture, traditions, language and country characteristics of Kazakhstan and Brazil. Also, an important direction of the Forum's mission, in his opinion, should be the expansion of academic, scientific and youth exchange, as well as the organization of mutual concerts and exhibitions. In this context, Edelcio Americo noted the practical importance of the courses on the study of the Kazakh language and Kazakhstan at the University of Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro, which will open online in August this year.
