Cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil is expanding

Brasilia, April 12, 2022 – Ambassador Bolat Nussupov met with renowned Brazilian multimedia sculptor Darlan Manuel Rosa.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of implementing a number of joint projects, in particular, the possibility of erecting a monument to the Kazakh poet, thinker and founder of national literature Abai Kunanbaev in Brazil.

In turn, a prominent Brazilian cultural figure said that he recently got acquainted with the work of Abay and after reading his book “Words of Edification” translated into Portuguese, he was impressed by the breadth of philosophy and wisdom of the Kazakh poet. Therefore, he came up with the idea to create the image of Abai in his own artistic style and performance. To this end, Darlan Roza intends to start developing sketches of his future project, which he plans to present during the next meeting.

For reference: Darlan Manuel Rosa created and installed 54 public sculptures in the capital of Brazil, the most important of which are installations in front of the
J.Kubitchek Memorial, the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Parliament, as well as
the Cultural Center of the Banco do Brasil.

His works have been installed in the major cities of Brazil: Fortaleza, Salvador, Campo Grande, Sao Paulo and Coromandel, and are also widely known abroad: in France, Salvador, Jordan, Palestine, Germany, Canada, Cuba and Mozambique.
