I sincerely congratulate you all on the Nauryz festivity (Nowruz International Day), which is indeed the Great Holiday for our Nation!
Nauryz, which personifies the awakening of nature, is the beginning of our ancestral, time-honoured New Year. It is a symbol of the renewal and the pursuit of new life, which reflects the deep knowledge and instructive history of our people.
The whole country is nowadays looking forward to a sunny spring holiday. In the last century, we were unwillingly separated from our pivotal festivity, Nauryz. But on the eve of our sacred Independence, we are reunited with our ancient traditions, and to strengthen them, H.E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Leader of our Nation (Elbasy), turned Nauryz into a national holiday.
In the article "Independence is the Most Precious Treasure" published at the beginning of the year, I emphasized the need to celebrate Nauryz in a new way. Every moment of the holiday should be a good deed that will benefit the country and set an example for future generations.
It is therefore that many measures of great educational value for the younger generation are being taken in all regions of Kazakhstan. And we will continue all these good deeds after the month of March (Amal).
The celebration of this Great Holiday of our Nation should not be limited to a few hours of events in the large squares and beautiful streets of our cities and villages. Nauryz is, above all, an instructive family holiday. Festive mood should be in all families. How good is our tradition when young people greet adults, receive their blessings, and entire people wish each other well!!
Nauryz is a holiday of prosperity and unity, which calls our citizens for brotherhood, friendliness and neighbourliness. Our great poet and philosopher Abai Qลซnanbaiuly wrote about it as follows: "On the Nauryz holiday, entire people of our country strive to see their loved and dearest ones, whilst on this joyful occasion uplanders meet lowlanders with smiles and hugs".
The deep philosophical content of the holiday encourages us to never forget the good, to appreciate charity and to live in harmony with nature.
According to the folk traditions of our country, the tulip of the steppe is a symbol of real spring. In this regard, the tulip shall be considered as the main symbol of the Nauryz โ the Great Holiday of the Great Steppe Nation.

Geopolitical turmoil is raging in the world, while international disputes are escalating. The coronavirus pandemic is growing rapidly, and the crisis in the world economy is intensifying. In such a difficult period, the people of Kazakhstan need to strengthen their unity and perseverance to withstand all challenges.
From the ancient times, our ancestors helped each other on the Great Day of the Nation and shared what they had in difficult times. It is gratifying that our people still adhere to this good tradition.
During the pandemic, tens of thousands of doctors and nurses, law enforcement officers and military personnel, as well as volunteers are working hard to protect the country's health. In a short time, our microbiologists have developed a vaccine against coronavirus.
There are many examples of the true dignity and real compassion of our citizens, as well as their great achievements. You see it for yourself. We are a proud nation, thanks to our unshakable unity, peace and stability.
Our sacred Nauryz is a holiday of kindness, charity and compassion. The principle of a just society and social state, which we propose, is fully in line with these values.
At the same time, Nauryz is a holiday that mobilizes the country and increases our prosperity. As many hands make light work, we will walk our ancestorsโ way, while utilizing their wisdom. Hence, we will work hand-in-hand to turn Kazakhstan into a highly competitive and powerful state.
Another sign of Nauryz is neatness and cleanliness. Kazakhs are a people that close to nature. On the Great Holiday of the Nation, it is our long-standing tradition to open springs, plant trees and keep the environment clean. The main goal of our Project โTaza Tabiฤatโ (Clean Nature) is to continue this noble cause.
Thus, the celebration of the Great Holiday of the Nation (Ulys, Nauryz) in various ways is necessary to preserve the traditions of our ancestors and to ensure the continuity of generations. There is a saying in Kazakh: "You shall know the people by their traditions". It is undoubtedly that the new nature of the nation is formed through good skills and positive qualities.
This year we celebrate a historic milestone - the 30th Anniversary of our sacred Independence. During the sovereign time, our country has achieved great success. But we cannot rest on your laurels. We will continue large-scale reforms that will lead our country to systemic change.
Comprehensive modernization will lead our nation to prosperity and make Kazakhstan an Eternal Nation (Mรคลgฤฑlฤฑk El). This is our major goal!
