Kazakh Ambassador presents credentials to President of Slovakia

BRATISLAVA, February 25, 2020 – Today, Roman Vassilenko presented his credentials to the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan in this country with a residence in Bratislava.

During the conversation after the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Vassilenko noted the interest of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and, in general, the leadership of Kazakhstan in the development of comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation with Slovakia, as evidenced by the opening of the country’s embassy in Bratislava last year.

He further noted there is a significant potential for cooperation between the two countries that is far from being fully utilized in the field of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and in strengthening contacts between people. Currently, more than 40 companies already work in Kazakhstan, and the most significant prospects for cooperation are noted in engineering, defence industry, energy, IT, pharmaceuticals, agricultural processing etc. In this regard, positive prospects for enhancing the interaction between the two countries in light of the full entry into force of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between Kazakhstan and the European Union and its member states since March 1 were also noted.

In turn, President Čaputová, noting the positive meaning of the opening of the embassy of Kazakhstan in Bratislava, expressed hope the dynamics of cooperation between our countries of recent years will continue.

The interlocutors noted the many similarities between the two countries both in their historical development and at the current stage of building democratic states with market economy which creates good conditions for further strengthening of cooperation and exchange of experience.

The conversation specifically focused on the efforts of the two countries in fighting climate change and developing alternative energy. In light of Bratislava’s commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, the head of the Slovak state was interested in the information about Kazakhstan’s efforts to develop solar, wind and other types of alternative energy to achieve the goal of ensuring 50 percent of the country’s needs from renewable energy sources by 2050.

Concluding the conversation that took place in a warm atmosphere, President Čaputová conveyed the best wishes to the leadership and the people of Kazakhstan.
