Slovak company Letecké opravovne Trenčín (LOTN) interested in further cooperation with Kazakhstan

TRENCIN, July 12, 2021 – One of the leading defence enterprises in Slovakia, Letecké opravovne Trenčín (LOTN), is interested in further cooperation with Kazakhstan. This, as well as specific ways of developing cooperation with the company, engaged in the repair and maintenance of aircraft for more than 70 years, was discussed at the meeting of Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Slovakia Roman Vassilenko with the company’s executives.

Located in Trenčín, LOTN is a strategic enterprise owned by the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic and providing services to clients from all over the world. To date, hundreds of aircraft and helicopter repairs have been carried out for products from various manufacturers. The main types of aircraft repaired and maintained at LOTN are the L-39 trainer, the L-410 transport aircraft and the Mi-8/17/171 helicopters.

Due to its unique capabilities in the field of maintenance, modernization and support of aviation machinery, the company was also recently designated as an industrial partner of the manufacturer of American F-16 fighters and UH-60M Black Hawk multipurpose transport helicopters of Lockheed Martin and will provide comprehensive logistics support and maintenance of these aircraft for the Slovak Air Force.

As part of his visit to the enterprise, Ambassador Vassilenko met with members of the company’s board of directors, executive director Juraj Lauš and commercial director Vladimír Šimansky, to discuss prospects for further cooperation between this company and partners in Kazakhstan.

As noted at the meeting, in the past, the company had for several years successfully cooperated with specialized organizations in Kazakhstan regarding the repairs of the L-39 aircraft. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for the resumption and expansion of such cooperation. Among the first steps are the establishment of contacts between specialized companies, as well as LOTN’s participation in the KADEX 2022 exhibition planned for next year in Nur-Sultan.
