Prospects for cooperation in water management discussed in Bratislava

BRATISLAVA, March 29, 2021 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovakia Roman Vassilenko and General Director of the state company “Vodohospodárska výstavba” Vladimír Kollár discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of water management and protection of water resources at a meeting in Bratislava today.

During the meeting, Ambassador Vassilenko noted Slovakia’s successful experience in ensuring the activities of the International Water Assessment Center (IWAC), which was previously located in Bratislava, and now is located in Nur-Sultan, as well as the prospects for the Slovak side to assist in the implementation of IWAC's program activities.

Representatives of “Vodohospodárska výstavba” expressed interest in technical and practical participation in solving issues related to improving the condition of hydraulic structures built in Central Asia during the Soviet period.

The parties highly appreciated the signing on December 10, 2020 of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of water resources between the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic, which laid the foundation for further strengthening scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries in the field of water management.
