On September 25, 2026, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Slovak Republic, online talks were held between representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Slovak state enterprise Vodohospodárska výstavba.
The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss professional development opportunities and the organization of internships for Kazakh water sector specialists at the operational facilities and research-and-production sites of the Slovak company. The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of expert knowledge and best practices, as well as the study of modern European approaches to ensuring water security and operating hydraulic structures.
During the interagency consultations, the parties identified key priority areas for the theoretical and practical training of Kazakh personnel:
ensuring water security and water resources management;
introducing innovative technological solutions in the reconstruction and technical maintenance of hydraulic structures;
monitoring and digitalization of hydropower complex facilities.
The participants paid special attention to the practical aspects of program implementation. In particular, they reviewed tentative timelines and training duration, group sizes, logistical arrangements, and financial and economic mechanisms for funding the internships.
Following the online meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work to finalize the detailed curriculum of the training modules, approve the list of facilities to be visited, and formalize the organizational and technical framework of the program.
The implementation of this project will establish a sustainable platform for practical cooperation between relevant organizations in Kazakhstan and Slovakia, while making a tangible contribution to building human capacity in Kazakhstan's water management sector through the engagement of leading Slovak expertise.
