Расширение региональных связей в фокусе казахстанско-швейцарских отношений

February 21, 2025, Delemont – During a planned visit to the canton of Jura, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov held talks with a member of the cantonal government, Minister of Economy and Health Stephane Theurillat, and also met with the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pierre-Alain Berret.

During the meetings K.Sarzhanov informed about the political and socio-economic reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan, outlined the main results of the state development in 2024. Referring to the activity of the political dialogue and the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Switzerland, the diplomat emphasized the indicators of foreign trade – 1,7 billion dollars last year, of which 1,2 billion dollars accounted for Kazakhstan's exports of oil and metals. In turn, the main products of Swiss imports are watch, pharmaceutical and chemical industry products. The total volume of Swiss investments in the Kazakh economy exceeded 35 billion dollars.       

The cantonal representatives expressed their interest in establishing regional cooperation and developing economic cooperation, including through research and professional institutes, applied research and the training of technical personnel, offered to share experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. More than 100 watch manufacturers are concentrated in the canton of Jura, including the Swatch Group, Richemont, LVMH, Victorinox, etc. Local companies are part of the large economic zone «Basel Area» and active in medtech, microtechnic, IT and industrial chemistry.

The Ambassador spoke about investment opportunities in the priority areas of Kazakh economy, invited to participate in the Astana International Forum.
