On the eve of the National Day of Dombra, on June 27, 2020, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland together with the Kazakh-Swiss association “Birlik” and KazAlliance organized a musical performance of dombra players from Switzerland and other European countries such as Austria, Germany and Italy in the Swiss Alps – the picturesque area of Meggenhorn with the castle of the same name built in 1870.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Alibek Bakayev noted that “culture is the most reliable bridge between peoples, which makes them closer and more understandable to each other. And, as you know, the soul of the Kazakhs is precisely in the sounds of dombra, while the soul of the Swiss breathes the beauties of the Alps. Today we have witnessed this unusual cultural synergy.”
The event attracted the attention of many visitors to Meggenhorn, they welcomed the dombra performances of the Kazakh kues “Balbyrauyn”, “Sekirtpe”, “Alqisa”, “Aqsaq kiik”, “Zhekpezhek”, “Konil tolqyny”, “Erke-Sylqym” and “Adai” with shouts of “bravo”, many people filmed national costumes and wanted to know more about the national instrument dombra.
The event was attended by friends of the Embassy and “Birlik” from among Swiss businessmen, scientists and public figures.
Obviously, such a vivid event will remain in the memory of the organizers, participants, guests and random spectators of the event for a long time.
