On the meeting of the Asset Recovery Committee of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Basel Institute of Governance

Bern, March 18, 2024 - The Asset Recovery Committee of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, held online negotiations with the Basel Institute of Governance.

The meeting took place within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed in Basel in 2023 between the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan and the Institute.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov expressed hope that the development of cooperation between the Committee and the Basel Institute will strengthen the potential of the Kazakh side in the area of stolen asset recovery.

During the meeting, experts discussed the Committee’s use of advanced and effective methods in the field of asset identification and confiscation, and reached an agreement on the use of the Basel LEARN educational platform.

In particular, the Committee will be assisted by Andrew Dornbierer, a leading international expert in the field of legislation against illicit enrichment.
