On the prospects for interregional cooperation with the canton of Basel-Stadt

March 5, 2024, Basel – As part of an official visit to the canton of Basel-Stadt, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov held a meeting with the head of the canton’s Executive Council Mr. Lukas Engelberger, and members of the cantonal administration.

The parties emphasized the importance of developing interregional cooperation for the purpose of dynamic development of trade and economic interaction between the two countries.

The Ambassador proposed establishing direct contacts between Shymkent and Basel, on whose territory chemical and pharmaceutical facilities are located.

K.Sarzhanov also spoke about the investment policy and advantages of doing business in Kazakhstan, which in the future could allow expanding the activities of such large Basel companies as Novartis, Roche and Clariant in Kazakhstan. ​

The leadership of Basel-Stadt showed great interest in developing economic cooperation through establishing business contacts at the regional level.
