Swiss investors invited to invest in infrastructure of Kazakhstan

On March 26, 2021, in the framework of a Webinar organized with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland in Kazakhstan and the United Chamber of Commerce «Switzerland-CIS» by the Swiss Export and Investment Promotion Center «Switzerland Global Enterprise» Swiss companies were presented with investment opportunities in the infrastructure industry of Kazakhstan.

Managers and representatives of about 100 Swiss companies, including ABB, Bombardier Transportation (Switzerland) AG, Sika Services AG, MAN Energy Solutions Schweiz AG, Inoks Capital SA, Militzer & Münch AG, Siemens Mobility SP, Burckhardt Compression, SWISSMEM Association and etc. took part in the Webinar.

Major infrastructure projects implemented in Kazakhstan are of great business interest to the Swiss government and business. In particular, the Swiss side notes the potential of the infrastructure development program «Nurly Zhol» and shows interest in participating in projects through public-private Partnerships.

In his speech Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Bakayev noted that improving the investment climate and infrastructure are strategic working directions of the Government of Kazakhstan. He also informed about the opportunities for investment cooperation and government measures to support investors.

The representative of «Kazakh Invest» NC A. Kozhanov acquainted the participants with the possibilities of participation of foreign companies in the implementation of infrastructure projects and presented a number of prospective projects currently being implemented in Kazakhstan in the field of transport and logistics, including the development of seaports, SEZ projects, ICBC «Khorgos».

The businessmen expressed interest in the opportunities for developing cooperation and the special conditions offered by the Kazakh side, including within the framework of special economic zones, and showed their readiness to discuss the implementation of joint projects in the territory of Kazakhstan.
