Berlin, 22 August. The government delegation of Kazakhstan led by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev took part in the  "Water - for sustainable development" round table organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Germany together with the German Water Partnership.

Representatives of government agencies of Kazakhstan and leading German companies specializing in the water sector recognized mutual interest in cooperation in the areas of municipal infrastructure, regulation of water consumption, use of economic instruments of water management, including through incentives for water saving.

"Governments around the world are facing serious global challenges in the area of water resources. Global warming is causing extreme weather events such as droughts, floods and melting glaciers. Recent floods in Kazakhstan have shown the need for international cooperation to prevent such disasters.

German companies have a great experience, advanced technologies and practical knowledge in water resources management. Therefore, joint investment projects on modernization of water and municipal infrastructure, digitalization of water resources accounting and distribution, as well as training of specialists in the water industry are of interest for Kazakhstan", - highlighted Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.

"Today's meeting can be called the laying of the foundation stone, which marks the beginning of the German-Kazakh water partnership. German companies under the auspices of the German Water Partnership are ready to offer concrete cooperation in projects implemented in Kazakhstan in the field of water management, personnel training and agriculture", - said Managing Director Boris Greifeneder.

During a separate meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev and Boris Greifeneder, it was agreed to develop a draft Global Agreement on Water Partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany, as well as to establish a separate working group on water resources.

An important result of the event was the signing of a number of documents aimed at the practical implementation of the agreements reached.

German Water Partnership stands out as the premier network in the German water sector with a strong international focus, bringing together approximately 300 companies, trade associations, and institutions from business, science and research.
