Embassy of Kazakhstan in Germany Takes Part in Wreath-Laying Ceremonies on 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

8-9 May 2020, BERLIN - As part of commemorative celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany Dauren Karipov and the Kazakh Embassy’s Military Attaché Apparatus took part wreath-laying ceremonies held at the military cemetery in Pankow district’s Soviet War Memorial, the “Soldier-Liberator” Soviet War Memorial at Treptow Park, as well as the Soviet War Memorial at Tiergarten.

This jubilee year’s commemorative events, which were traditionally attended by heads of diplomatic missions of former USSR countries and member states of the anti-Hitler coalition, were held with a limited number of public participants due to local measures to counter the spread of COVID-19. In this regard, representatives of the victorious nations conveyed their warm wishes for the good health and well-being of all WWII veterans and homefront workers.

In January 2019, Berlin’s House of Representatives approved an amendment to the laws of the federal state of Berlin proclaiming 8 May of this year a one-off public holiday on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht and the end of the Second World War.
