Contemporary Kazakh Designers Hold Fashion Showcase in Berlin

BERLIN, December 9, 2021– The newest fashion collections of Kazakh designers have been showcased in the heart of the German capital as part of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. The gala evening was arranged by the spouse of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany, Karlygash Karipova, with the support of Moldiyar Nurbaev and Altynsara Nurakhmetova.

Delivering her welcoming remarks, Karlygash Karipova expressed gratitude to the organizers of the fashion show and noted that national dress plays an integral part in any culture, symbolizing unique history, traditions and national heritage.

The fashion show attendees were treated to displays of national Kazakh ornaments, as well as the more modern casual looks of well-known designers such as as Nazym Karpykova (brand “ARUNAZ”), Aydana Omarova (founder of Kazakhstan’s top fur brand “Aydana Omarova Couture”), who were also joined by the young and innovative clothing designer Anel Tolegen.

The fashion show, accompanied by live musical performances by Kazakh and international artists, was organized for Berlin’s residents and guests. In addition to trendy clothes, the evening featured a digital installation depicting Kazakhstan’s nature and reproductions of paintings by contemporary Kazakh artists M. Kalmakhanov, B. Burdesbekov, and A. Chunchalinov.​
