Ambassador Karipov of Kazakhstan Holds Meeting with Lower Saxony Company Executives

HANNOVER, BERLIN, 26 October 2020 –An online round table on Eastern European and Central Asian business practices was organized today by the Hannover Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Hannover CCI). The meeting was attended by over 30 entrepreneurs from the federal state of Lower Saxony, representatives of Hannover CCI and the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as Lower Saxony trade representatives in Poland and Russia.

Speaking at the opening session, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Germany Dauren Karipov noted the successful development of economic cooperation between the two countries, which had reached a new level owing to systematic efforts to enhance bilateral trade and economic and investment cooperation, which was given an additional impetus during the visits of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Germany in December 2019 and February 2020. Ambassador Karipov briefed the participants about Kazakhstan’s attractive investment climate, business opportunities, legislative support, as well as benefits and preferences offered for German investors. Moreover, potential investors were informed about measures that have been taken by Kazakhstan’s authorities to combat the coronavirus pandemic and minimize negative economic consequences.

The meeting also considered possibilities for developing cooperation between Kazakhstan’s and Lower Saxony’s business circles in the agriculture, food, and industrial sectors, as well as light machinery.

Moreover, representatives of Lower Saxony’s trade representation offices in Poland and Russia shared their experiences and information on strengthening investment cooperation and shaping new business contacts for leveraging strategic opportunities in industrial development, entrepreneurship, and the opening of new business avenues.

A Q&A session took place at the conclusion of the web conference, during which participants raised a number of questions regarding the intensification of trade and economic contacts, and discussed practical aspects of doing business.

The Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which includes over 170 000 regional and district companies, is the largest of its kind in the federal state of Lower Saxony. The CCI advocates the common interests of regional entrepreneurs (including through the organization of professional trainings, provision of experts, verification of foreign trade documents and analysis for construction projects) before local authorities, politicians and the public.
