On the enhancing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Serbia in defense and law enforcement

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Serbia Gabit Syzdykbekov was received by the Ministers of Defense and Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

On March 5, 2020, in the course of the meeting with Aleksandar Vulin, the Head of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, the Kazakh diplomat noted the high level of friendly and trusting relations between the two countries, thanked the Minister for his openness and readiness for joint work.

The head of the Serbian defense Ministry warmly welcomed the Ambassador of Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of his diplomatic mission.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the military-technical sphere.

During the discussion on expanding the legal framework of bilateral cooperation, special attention was paid to signing of the intergovernmental Agreement on military-technical cooperation.

On March 6, 2020, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan met with Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Minister of Interior of Serbia.

The parties emphasized the high level of friendly and trusting relations between the two states and discussed areas for developing cooperation in the law enforcement sphere.

1. Stefanovic pointed out the similarity of the transit specifics of Serbia and Kazakhstan territories and noted that the parties could successfully cooperate on sharing experience in the search of internationally wanted persons, combatting drug trafficking and terrorism. Traditionally, of interest is collaboration in the field of criminal investigation. In addition, the Serbian side is interested in conducting joint training exercises of law enforcement agencies of the two states.

The Kazakhstan side proposed to establish cooperation in the field of countering and investigating economic crimes aimed at promoting economic diplomacy and ensuring legal protection for investors and exporters.

As part of the discussion on improving public safety methods, special focus was made to the prospects for mutual assistance of the states in application of technical means of urban and road visual observation. The two sides shared the latest achievements of their countries in this field. In this regard, the head of the Serbian law enforcement ministry emphasized that these tools contribute to increasing crime detection, preventing and reducing crime statistics, including corruption.

The parties noted mutual interest in building up a bilateral legal and regulatory framework to ensure close interaction between the internal affairs bodies of Kazakhstan and Serbia and to implement the indicated potential for cooperation.

In concluding the meeting, the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Serbia expressed to the Ambassador of Kazakhstan the readiness of the Serbian side to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of the diplomatic mission of the friendly country.
