The Patriarch of the Maronite Church expressed interest in participating in the Congress of Religious Leaders

On March 18th Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Lebanon Rasul Zhumaly met with the Patriarch of the Maronite Church Bechara Boutros Ar-Rai.

During the meeting, issues of interaction in interreligious and interfaith spheres, as well as the promotion of dialogue between cultures and civilizations were discussed.

In this regard, the Patriarch was presented with an invitation on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Head of the Secretariat of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbaev to participate in the VIII Congress, which will be held in September of this year in Astana. The Ambassador spoke in detail about the history of the Congress, its goals and objectives. It was noted that this would be the first participation of the head of the Maronite Church in the Congress.

In turn, Patriarch B. Boutros Ar-Rai expressed gratitude for the invitation and expressed interest in participating in the work of the Congress. He highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s role in strengthening interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue.
