Kazakhstan and Lebanon expand cultural ties

On February 20 in Beirut, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Rasul Jumaly met with the Minister of Culture of Lebanon Muhammad Murtada. Minister noted that spiritual rapprochement serves as the basis for strong and long-term cooperation between peoples. He expressed interest in introducing the Lebanese people closer to the Kazakh culture and rich traditions. The parties spoke in favor of encouraging artists from Kazakhstan and Lebanon to participate in joint festivals, holding cinema and cultural days.

The Ambassador spoke about the deep historical roots connecting Kazakhstan with the Arab world. Last year, one of the significant events was the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the great son of the Kazakh steppe, Mamluk Sultan Az-Zahir Baybars. In Lebanon, in particular in the city of Tripoli, many artifacts of that era have been preserved, which makes it possible to make joint efforts to preserve the unique heritage. The parties touched upon the importance of cooperation in the field of literature. Of great importance here will be the popularization of Abai and Shakarim legacy, other outstanding Kazakh thinkers, as well as Lebanese classics such as Jebran Jebran and Mikhail Nayoume. Taking this opportunity, the Minister was given a collection of poems by Kazakh poets in Arabic.

The meeting was attended by the first Ambassador of Lebanon to Kazakhstan, Assef Nasser, who, being on retirement, continuesly contribute to strengthening the friendship between our countries.
