The Executive director of the Council of Asia paid a visit to Iran
On June 5, 2022, Director General of the conference on interaction and confidence-building measures in Asia (CICA, Council of Asia) Kairat Sarybay met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdullahian, who arrived in Tehran on a visit.
During the meeting, the sides noted the need to develop cooperation between the CICA and the IRA, to maximize the opportunities of the Asian Council.
In addition, K. Sarybay held meetings with Reza Najafi, Deputy Minister of foreign affairs for legal and international affairs of the IRA, Ali Akbar Salehi, deputy president of the Academy of Sciences of the IRA, member of the Council of intellectuals of the CICA, and Mohammad Hassan Sheikholeslami, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the IRA – director general of the Institute of political and International Studies.
During these meetings, the parties discussed such issues as the holding of the summit of the Asian Council, the creation of the Council of intellectuals of this organization, the development of relations between the Centers of thought of the CICA Member States.
The sides also exchanged views on the settlement of the situation in Syria, Afghanistan, Palestine, negotiations on the IRA nuclear program, the fight against terrorist and extremist groups, as well as on the settlement of international and regional problems.
