On May 9, 2024 in the city of Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan, Balkan province) Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan J.G. Zhumbergenov took part in the event dedicated to May 9 – Victory Day and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.

During the war, more than 200 thousand people were enlisted in the army from Turkmenistan, and 16 soldiers were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. It is worth noting that among these heroes is Madi Begenov, who was born in the Mangystau region, and then moved to Turkmenistan during the famine and enlisted from there to the front and died in 1943 in heavy combat. Today, several schools and streets in Turkmenistan bear the name of M. Begenov.
