On February 2, 2020 Ethiopia's English-language weekly “Fortune” posted an article «Interesting Ideas from Kazakhstan on Governance and Related Matters» by Mr. Tekeda Alemu, member of the Governing Council of the Ethiopian Center for Dialogue, Research and Cooperation, former Permanent Representative of the FDRE to the United Nations.
The article draws attention to the initiatives of President K. Tokayev and that these initiatives deserve the attention of any other state - large or small, developed or developing. This applies both to the concept of the “hearing state” as a means of increasing trust between the government and the people and achieving real welfare of citizens, as well as to the innovation of President KK Tokayev - the creation of the National Council of Public Confidence.
The author of the article emphasizes that “the extent to which the whole plan reflects the wisdom behind the initiatives should indicate what priority is given to youth” and the improvement of the quality of management and the services provided in the state and non-state sectors, which is directly related to personnel policy, one of the main principles of which is meritocracy. The author claims that many countries, including Ethiopia, have a long way to go in this direction.
Bearing in mind the universal nature of the principle of state structure put forward by President K. Tokayev, “a strong President - an influential parliament - an accountable government,” T. Alemu points to it as a very important experience that can be useful for other countries.
As a person who was directly involved in the issues of interaction with the delegation of Kazakhstan during the membership of both countries in the UN Security Council in 2017-18, T. Alemu emphasizes the important role that Kazakhstan plays both in its region and in the international arena, citing as example of the Astana Process as a concrete contribution of Kazakhstan to the strengthening of regional and international security.
