Strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation with the African Union

ADDIS ABABA, August 3, 2021 - The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia, Barlybai Sadykov, met with the Head of the Department of Culture, Health, Humanitarian Relations and Social Development of the African Union Commission, Ms. Angela Martins.

During the meeting, topical issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the African Union in the cultural sphere were discussed in the context of Kazakhstan's initiative «Decades of Rapprochement of Cultures 2013-2022», which was adopted at the UN, and the main theme of the African Union in 2021 «Art, culture and Heritage».

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan acquainted the interlocutor with the initiative of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev «Rukhani Zhangyru», as well as the program of Kazakhstan for holding events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the country's Independence.

Since November 2013, Kazakhstan has been an observer at the African Union, which unites 55 states of the continent with a population of over 1 billion people.
