Maintaining the tradition of cooperation with Ethiopia in the field of education

Addis Ababa, June 24, 2021 - Today the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia Barlybay Sadykov met with the Minister of Education of the FDRE Dr. Ing Getahun Mekuria.

The Ambassador acquainted the interlocutor with the education system in Kazakhstan, scientific potential and programs of international cooperation of the country.

He informed about the program of educational grants of Kazakhstan held on a competitive basis and in which the citizens of Ethiopia can take part.

Given Ethiopia's membership in the Executive Council of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, issues of interaction within the framework of this organization were discussed.

Minister Dr. Ing Getahun Mekuriya noted that the Ethiopian side is extremely interested in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan and the education sector is "an ideal direction". He emphasized that Kazakhstan has good educational traditions and many students from Africa were educated in Kazakhstan.

The Minister welcomed the educational grants program for international students and assured that at the upcoming conference on education, all heads of regions of Ethiopia will be informed about the available educational opportunities in Kazakhstan.

The Minister expressed interest in organizing professional development programs for Ethiopian specialists.

The parties agreed to continue interaction through educational programs and within the framework of the UNESCO.
