IOFS International Conference and series of bilateral meeting held in Dubai

IOFS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND SERIES OF BIULATERAL MEETING HELD IN DUBAI

On February 21, 2022 an international conference called "Prospects for the development of food security of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Central Asia" has launched in Dubai, UAE. The hybrid format event was jointly organized by JSC National Agrarian Science Educational Center (NASEC) and Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS).

The conference was started with keynote remarks by the Chairman of the Board of "National agrarian science and educational center" NJSC, H.E. Dr. Issayeva G.S; President of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, H.E Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazrooei; Chairman of the Board of "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" JSC NC, H.E. Mr. Aidyn Aimbetov; IOFS Director General, H.E. Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet.

Participants presented their activities and discussed current issues on overcoming the food security problems including hunger and malnutrition through developing and implementing the national and subnational regulatory frameworks on food and nutrition security, as well as to promote an effective and efficient relationship between the states to carry out activities aiming to ensure food and nutrition security, sustainable agricultural development.

The parties agreed to continue their mutual discussions and cooperation to define the framework for future cooperation through signing series of Memorandums of Understanding that were concluded between NASEC and Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development; IOFS and Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development; NASEC and "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" JSC NC; IOFS and "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" JSC NC, IOFS and the International Climate Change Center.

Furthermore, Director General of IOFS H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet had a bilateral meeting with representatives of the Zayed Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation (Foundation), Heads of Projects Section, Ms. Fatima Aldhaheri, Mr. Abdul Aziz Alzadi, and Projects and Programs Manager, Dr. Ibrahem Al Zaabi who expressed appreciation for a visit and for the significant effort the IOFS has made towards enhancing food security, promoting agricultural and rural development in OIC member states.

Scope of important issues discussed during the meeting related to IOFS Strategic Framework and IOFS Strategy 2031, particularly included IOFS humanitarian programs and Afghanistan Food Security Programme and Year of Africa 2021 project. Parties expressed willingness to explore possible areas of collaboration and agreed to consider joint efforts towards implementing strategic objectives in enhancing sustainable food security through providing necessary emergency and humanitarian assistance, including managing financial and agricultural resources for developing agriculture among member countries.

In addition, the Director General of IOFS H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet held another meeting with Chairman of the Board of "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" JSC NC, H.E. Mr. Aidyn Aimbetov. Sides discussed cooperation in the sphere of space sector, particularly applying of satellite technologies and navigation system in agricultural infrastructure with the purpose to increase observational capability and assist farmers and growers in detecting and controlling pests and disease, planning crop nutrition and exploring water and nutrient status, predicting yields and estimating harvest timing.
