Press release to the order of the Minister of information and social development of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On approval of Rules of activities of the journalist (representative of media), present on peaceful assemblies, forms the distinguishing marks of a journalist"

August 14, 2020, the Ministry of information and social development of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved by the order No. 279 "On approval of Rules of activities of the journalist (representative of media), present at peaceful assemblies, forms the distinguishing marks of a journalist" (hereinafter – the Rules).

The rules are developed in accordance with article 4-3 (13-4) of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan of 23 July 1999 "on mass media", taking into account UNESCO recommendations on ensuring the safety of journalists at peaceful gatherings.

The rules define the procedure for interaction of the media with local Executive bodies, organizers and participants, in particular, the following main provisions are provided:

1) to ensure the professional activity of a journalist (interviewing, briefing), the local Executive body takes measures to provide journalists with an Operational press center for the media, as well as the participation of its representative during a peaceful Assembly;

2) uniform requirements for an Operational press center for mass media are established;

3) the forms of distinctive signs are established.
